    Story

Eloise is my daughter, and she's 9 years old.
She's defined as having complex needs, although if you were to meet her, you might not realise at first: she routinely has a smile on her face, even if she's having a really tough time. She has Cystic Fibrosis, which is a life-limiting genetic condition that primarily effects her lungs and digestive system. Every day she takes 25+ tablets, 5 nebulisers, has an hour of chest physiotherapy, 2 different inhaler delivered drugs and liquid laxatives *just* to keep her well. When she's not well and if her chest is particularly bad she goes into hospital for a minimum of 14 days at a time. To date, she's already spent close to 2 years of her life in hospital. She's also on the autistic spectrum so struggles to understand emotionally and socially the things most people take for granted, let alone intensive and sometimes invasive medical treatment and tests. She has ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, and mild visual and auditory impairments. Her extremely flexible joints (Benign Hypermobility Syndrome) mean her co-ordination, activity and fatigue levels can be effected by things that many 9 year olds do without any effort. And she has underlying Tracheobronchiomalacia (that makes her airways 'floppy' and her cf problems worse), Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease and a history of partial bowel obstruction related to her CF called DIOS. In short? She goes through a hell of a lot and at times finds life really hard, but she is the most inspirational person I know.

Eloise is also just a bubbly, smiley, funny 9 year old girl, and for the last 4 years she's had a dream: a once in a lifetime trip to Orlando. I'm a proud man, but I would give anything to help her make happier memories to aid her on her darker days. This dream - despite my best efforts - is simply out of my reach without help, so here I am...

Please, help me make a very special child's dream come true. That's *my* dream.

We’re now officially a GO for Easter 2018 in Orlando!! We fly out on March 31st and land back in the UK on April 15th - Eloise is absolutely over the moon and it’s a bright spot in a bit of a rough patch as it’s just been confirmed she’ll be going in for surgery and 2 weeks of IV antibiotics in the very near future. Potentially, we’ve been told it could be within the next 2 to 3 weeks, we’re just waiting on a date from the surgical team. Thank you so, so much to everyone who has donated so far, it really has made a huge difference.

(2/2) We should know when they see her next what the plan is and, if she's going to theatre, when that will be. But it was still better news than we were expecting to some degree. As always, to all those supporting her ambition for the trip of a lifetime to Orlando, THANK YOU!

Eloise's lung function is actually up a bit on last clinic visit, despite her continuing chest symptoms,so the docs are happier than they were. We're back in clinic in 4 weeks, barring any problems, but it's now been agreed that there is a problem with the device surgically implanted in her chest for IV access, so we're now possibly looking at an operation to either 'fix' it or move it to a completely different site. Her first port lasted 8.5 years, this one has only been inserted for 9 months, so it's a bit frustrating.
