Story
Thank you for visiting my Crowdfunding page for El Shaddai Charitable Trust (https://childrescue.net).
Just a bit of background info......I found El Shaddai through the Indigo Volunteers website (www.indigovolunteers.org) last year & spent an amazing 6 weeks with them as a volunteer. They have been rescuing children and helping underprivileged families for over 20 years now & I have just fallen in love with the children and the staff. They really do make a difference to so many lives and I want to do what I can to help.
I've set this page up to raise funds for a particular project that is a priority for them at the moment........
The Usha M Shroff Community Ctr is situated in the slum area of Chimbel in Goa and it serves the community by providing education through non formal classes, coaching, awareness programs plus vocational & skill development training for all age groups - children, teenagers & adults.
I have spent a few days there with my fellow volunteer Linda who has actually helped fund a water and a gas supply for the Centre through fundraising. We have seen first hand how much the community values the free services that the ctr provide.
They have 3 classrooms that are full of young children on a daily basis eager to learn until early aft, then the older children use it to study followed by specific adult classes like tailoring and free medical immunization open evenings.
The children currently sit on the floor to study, but you will never hear them complain. They have never experienced 'a proper' school before, so they do not know any different, but having classroom furniture would make such a difference. It really is such a basic amenity that anyone western would expect to see in a school environment. It would be so amazing to get tables and chairs for all 3 classrooms.
So how much are they? One chair costs 2200 rupees (approx £25) and they need 70. Each table costs 4400 rupees (approx £50) and they need 35.
So the total cost for what they need is £3500. I have set my target at this amount, but I will be so over the moon (and I know El Shaddai will be too) with any amount raised. Any contribution towards these items would be hugely appreciated.
If you are not able to make a monetary contribution to this campaign, then please help by sharing this page with your family, friends & colleagues.
Thank you for taking the time to read all about my crowdfunding campaign. I have an Insta page that has been set up purely for my work with El Shaddai, so please take a look to find out more - @caz_goa
