    Story

On Thursday 14th September 2017, my Mummy went for her regular 39 week check-up. At this check-up the midwife told Mummy and Daddy the devastating news that she was unable to find my heart beat. Two days later on Saturday 16th September 2017 mummy and daddy had to go to the hospital for mummy to be induced and for me to start my little journey into the world. After mummy and daddy being really brave, 6 hours later we had our first cuddles together. They were then told that I may not be able to spend our only night together because the hospital only has two cuddle cots and didn’t know whether they were both in use. My mummy, daddy and I couldn’t imagine not spending those precious hours together. We were all really happy when the midwife came in and told us they were able to let us use one of the cuddles cots.

I almost lost the opportunity to spend my only night with mummy and daddy due to the lack of Cuddle Cots in the hospital. If they hadn’t of got a cuddle cot for me I would have had to go into the morgue.

Mummy, daddy and I would like to raise enough money to buy the hospital a new cuddle cot so no parent will ever have to go through not spending precious little time with their baby.

Thank you for reading my story,

    Love,

    Elsie-May

Cuddle cot; The cuddle cot is used for stillborn babies and late miscarriages, keeping the babies cool for longer, slowing the decomposition process, enabling parents to take babies home to grieve and say goodbye. It’s used in a moses basket so it’s not clinical and helps parents come to terms with their loss.
