Story
In July 2018, myself and 21 other students from The King's School Peterborough will be embarking upon an expedition to Uganda. During our time in this fascinating country, we will be completing a 3 day community project. This project will be the refurbishment of the classroom and toilet block at Kabalubalu School. This school has never been visited by a group like ours, therefore there is so much work we can do to improve the facilities of the school and change the lives of the students who go there.
In order to raise this money, we will be completing 24 hours in our school gym, trying to travel as far as we can to Uganda in that time. This page is in aid of sponsorship of this event. Here are some reasons why it is so important we raise sufficient money from this event:
Education in Uganda is considered a right, however due to this high demand some education facilities, like Kabalubalu, are in need of urgent repair and rejuvenation. The refurbishment of the classroom will help to create a positive learning environment for the students who go there and provide daily inspiration in their studies. This impact will remain long after we've left which is what makes it such a special project.
Furthermore, refurbishment of the toilet block is of great importance too. 65% of Ugandans don't have a toilet in or around their homes, making the impact of one that is safe and functional at the school, all the more important. Again, the impact of such a facility goes beyond us and our work, it stretches to the community and offers the children of it a safe and clean start to their lives.
The money we raise will go directly to purchasing the building supplies needed for our project. We have already raised over 1800 pounds, which is just over half our target amount. By raising this money, I can contribute substantially to my group's collective fundraising effort!
Thank you for reading and please help us reach our collective target by donating!
