Story
I've made this fundraiser on behalf of my friend who is struggling at the moment and is being threatened with eviction. We need to raise as much money as possible due to the time constraints. They are a black trans parent to a young child so these funds will also go towards them and their needs.
My friend had to leave the country because of an abusive situation that impacted them and their child. Upon their return to the UK they were faced with an overwhelming amount of debt which includes medical bills for their chronic disabilities, rent arrears, childcare, utility bills etc. I will outline the breakdown of costs below to keep transparency on where this money will go.
Due to the nature of the abuse and as they are a sex worker and a single parent it would be safer for them to remain anonymous which is why I am crowdfunding on their behalf. They won't be able to share it with their network due to fear of abusive repercussions.
The money will go to my bank account and then promptly transferred to this friend. This is a breakdown of the costs:
Rent Arrears £4,725
- If not paid within the next months them and their child will be evicted. If evicted they will not be able to apply for social housing again.
Utility Arrears £1,175
International Housing Cost £400
International medical bills for their chronic disabilities £500
Medical Equipment £500
Child's School Costs £200
Therapy arrears £480
Legal fees £300
Total £8,280
There is also £3000 in childcare arrears that we are trying to contest but any extra money raised here will go towards that.
We will continue to update this page as it progresses.
They are extremely grateful for any and all donations no matter how small or large it may be. We understand it's a tough time for everyone at the moment financially so appreciate all gestures of support, even just sharing this page will help.
Thank you <3

2 years agoHello everyone, Just Giving allows you to withdraw funds during a fundraising campaign which is amazing, so just to update you all: I have requested a withdrawal of £2,076 of which £74.45 will be taken by JustGiving as a fee (2.9% + 25p per donation). This will allow them to start paying back rent arrears in the next 4-6 days when payment goes through. Please keep sharing with your friends and family and colleagues and stranger you meet in the park. Forever grateful, Darcy

2 years agoHello, Just a quick update and thanks for all the advice being received on how to get help from the government. They have applied for DHP (Discretionary Housing Payment Fund) and have been told they are not able to claim it. we will be phoning them back and pressing the issue further. SWARM hardship fund - We have applied and will hopefully receive £200 by the next week. PIP - They have applied but payments won't arrive for another 6-12 weeks.
