Story
Last summer we travelled to Iloilo in The Philippines to work in Western Visayas Medical Centre for our medical elective. We stayed in a beautiful house with many other healthcare students from around the world and were hosted by a wonderful team of people, who we got to know very well over the 8 weeks. One of those was Margie.
We heard of heart-breaking news that Margie passed away on Saturday. She was hospitalised due to pneumonia but unfortunately did not make it. It was a massive shock to us, and to the team in The Philippines.
Margie assisted the chef in the kitchen and they made the most delicious traditional Filipino food for all the students, including a BBQ feast every Thursday night. They were a fantastic team, who all the students were extremely fond of. Margie was always smiling and was very caring and generous. Her presence in the Work The World house will be greatly missed.
Margie was a young, single mother to a lovely 2 year old girl. The money raised in memory of her, will go directly to Margie's parents, to help them raise her daughter.
Thanks for your donations- Emily, Radha, Christa and Amman

I am truly heartbroken to hear of the loss of such a strong and welcoming individual. You were amazing and I cannot imagine the house without you. Sending all my love to you, Eliza and your family.
