In 2010, at the age of 32, Janine Brook, the wife of a friend, was diagnosed with breast cancer. The following year, she was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer, which is, as yet, incurable. For the past 5 years, drugs have kept the cancer at bay but, in September 2016, she was informed that there are no other suitable drugs available on the NHS. She is now in the unenviable position of trying to raise funds for pioneering treatments.

Despite her own personal battle, she continues to give back, raising £400k for breast cancer care and setting up a campaign called Boobie Date which reminds women and men to check their breasts for cancer every month. She is not prepared to give up on life, her daughters, her husband, her family and friends or even the students that she teaches.

My aim is to run, walk or even crawl as far as I possibly can over a 24 hour period starting at midday on Saturday June 10th at Endure 24, Reading in order to raise funds to cover one round of treatment.
