    Story

As a newly-qualified Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), myself and 7 of my peers will be working in Cambodia from September to December. Through a project which was set up by one of our lecturers, volunteers like ourselves have been working across Phnom Penh each year since 2007, establishing local expertise by empowering local staff to offer basic speech and language services within a multi-disciplinary context, with the aim to improve quality of life and social inclusion for people with speech and language difficulties. We will be split into 4 teams to work in children's schools, the mental health sector and in children's hospitals.

Before September I'll be organising various events in an attempt to raise the necessary funds to make this possible. The money raised will go towards flights, living costs, and the resources needed while working there.

To start off, I'm running a half marathon on good Friday. Any contributions to help motivate my big butt to get around the track would be most welcomed!

If anyone would like to know a bit more about the project, please get in touch.

Thanking you all in advance :)

Following a whopping success of a sports day fundraiser last night, I’ll be running a race tomorrow. I continue to be blown away by everyone’s generosity. Thank you all for the support!

I’ve been a bit quiet on here with finals, but hoping to get back into the fundraising spirit now that things are wrapping up!

As a (not too) mature student, I finally followed my dream of becoming a speech and language therapist. It's been grueling being a student again, but it will all have been worth it come July. I'm so thrilled to have this opportunity to share my newly acquired skills in Cambodia!
