Story
Life talk at Sandies is a community welfare project which aims to offer a place of hope for people.
Life talks at Sandies is a project which aims to transform a charity shop into a caravanserai – a place of rest and hope – every 2/3 months. This place will be filled with music, art, inspiring and insightful talks about life. It is a place for the young and the old, rich and poor. It will be a place where reputations are void and we are all equal, regardless of our different beliefs, jobs, and ethnicities.
Life talks at Sandies provides a place to share stories of life. Our trials, failures, successes and aspirations.
On 28 April 2018, we held our first event in which music, poetry and inspiring stories were heard to generate hope in my community. We would like to have two more events this year. This includes a movie night in the charity shop and a workshop on stress and anxiety management.
This bank holiday weekend, I will be going to Cornwall with 50 other people for a 10k charity hike. Everyone on this adventure has a heart warming reason why they are taking on this challenge to raise money for charities that are close to their heart. I will be raising money for a charity called Make A Difference At Sandies (M.A.D.A.S) who offer free counselling sessions for people in my London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
