Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read my story.

In 2011, when my wife was 23 weeks pregnant with identical twins, we had to make one of the hardest decisions of our lives. Our boys were suffering from Twin to Twin Syndrome (please feel free to google this condition) and without immediate intervention we would have lost them. We were immediately refered to The Fetal Medicine Unit in St Michael's Hospital, Bristol where we were given our options. 1. Do nothing, go into labour within days and loose both boys. 2. Terminate the pregnancy, or 3. Laser surgery on the placenta, which still only gave us a 45% chance that both twins would survive (again google this procedure, there are some amazing videos on You Tube!). We obviously chose option 3 and the following day the amazing team led by Dr Mark Denbo operated. We were sent away following the procedure and told to go to Singleton hospital, Swansea for a scan 72 hours later where we would find out the outcome of the operation. By some miracle, both boys had heart beats and were born 6 weeks premature on 6th Jan 2012. They spent only 12 days in Special Care and were allowed home. They are now very healthy, clever, active 5 year olds who keep us on our toes. Although there were many amazing people involved in caring for them during the pregnancy and once they were born, I am looking to raise money to donate to the Fetal Medicine Unit as the procedure that was carried out was incredible!!

Therefore I am competing in my first ever Sprint Triathlon:
750 metre sea swim
20km bike ride
5km run

Any donation would be gratefully received and will make a huge difference to families who will undoubtedly face the same difficult time as we did in the future.
