    Story

Enactus KCL is a student organisation based at King’s College London that has bettered the communities in which we operate as its core value. Our 53 members embody this idea through their participation in our six social projects. These ventures have improved the lives of hundreds of people worldwide, in countries ranging from The Philippines to Tanzania, to right here in the UK.

This year, we have the great honour of representing the UK at the Enactus World Cup, a forum where all of the winners of respective national competitions come together and compete for the title of world champions. We are especially excited as this year’s World Cup is in London. The team has represented the UK once before, in our first year of operation, and is this, our tenth year, we once again have the opportunity to show the world how committed we are to bringing about social change.

The two projects which we will be showcasing at the World Cup are LightMountain and Branched. LightMountain is a project started three years ago which empowers women in rural Tanzania, while at the same time reducing both deforestation and household air pollution. Our entrepreneurs have increased their income and brought about positive changes in their communities, with their children breathing better air and their forests beginning to recover. Branched, a project based here in London, aims to better the lives of refugees by giving them work experience and English language skills, all the while benefiting a social enterprise dedicated to eliminating food waste.

This year, almost forty countries will be represented at the World Cup, which will be held from 26-28 September at the ExCel Centre. An event on this scale requires meticulous planning and both our committee and the presentation team have done their utmost to prepare their speech, rehearse for hours on end, and perfect their presentation style. Now we need your help to help us achieve our dream.

The £4,000 we need is to cover presentation costs and to fund additional trips to Tanzania to make sure LightMountain is progressing well for the World Cup. We are proud of our projects and we are confident that we your support we will be able to put our best foot forward and become Enactus World Champions.
