We have a venue but no accessible toilet so we can run a youth club for people with disabilities or special educational needs and their siblings to relax and meet up in a non judgemental environment, social activities are important for the youth of today and i know from experience as a parent of a teenager with disabilities that mainstream activities although available to everyone are not always as enjoyable as they should be when your child is classed as "different"

As humans we are all different but sometimes not understanding why someone acts slightly more different to others can cause a social gap which as a parent is difficult to witness when your child is sometimes given a wider berth by others, so I wish to start something where these people can go to relax, have a drink or some food, play video games with easier control systems, watch movies, play pool and other board games in a relaxed environment

I am already involved with a group for people with disabilities but have noticed there are limited places for the children to go to when they become teenagers and young adults

some of the young adults also will struggle to find employment in an already competitive environment so we will also be running coffee mornings a couple of days a week completely run by a few of these awesome individuals with the hope that it could lead to full time employment for them in the future or failing that at least some experience for them to show a possible future employer

we have the premises up and running, all that is standing in our way to do this next step is the toileting facilities as unfortunately it is a listed building and the toilets available are upstairs with only a narrow unsuitable staircase leading to them so a stair lift is out of the question

the work needed requires starting from scratch in an old store room and the work needed does not come cheap, if by some miracle we reach target and exceed it then the extra money will go towards a hoist system for the more physical disabled as there are no public toilets in Bodmin that have this facility.

We have tried to get grants for the work but keep coming up against a brick wall each time as there seems to be little funds available for this so it comes down to getting it done ourselves and I simply don't have the budget to do it so need your help if possible please.

Although advertised for the use of the youth club and coffee mornings it will also be open for public use in the town during the day so hopefully a cleaner safer place than the ones available at the moment that are reported to be used by drug users on a regular basis with needles left exposed
