Liz fell in love with Yorkshire in her University days. Returning back to her home county of Sussex after university, Liz rebounded back to Yorkshire just over a decade later and made her home in Leeds. When the pandemic hit, Liz started volunteering her time at Slung Low, a community theatre company, in the middle of Holbeck. Slung Low simply feeds people, it is not means tested, if people need feeding, they are fed. Liz believed in Slung Low and volunteered every week to deliver food parcels (slipping sweet bags for kiddies). The initiative is not a registered charity, it’s a grass roots community initiative run by the Holbeck people, for the people. Liz was just one of the 100 volunteers who has dealt with 8,000 referrals, delivering food parcels, picking up prescriptions and supporting those who are isolated and lonely. Slung Low also continued to provide creative opportunities by delivering open air art galleries, featuring the work of local people. At a time when a theatre company can’t do anything on the stage, Slung Low Theatre helps to feed its community.
