On Thursday the 2nd of February, I will be cutting 40cm of my hair off, this hair will then be donated to the 'Little Princess Trust' Charity. From this, the money raised, will then be donated to 'Charlie Round's Neuroblastoma' Charity, which is a charity very close to my heart.
My cousin, Charlie, is turning 3 years old and has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. It is a cancer of specialised nerve cells called neural crest cells. These cells are involved in the development of the nervous system and other tissues. It is Rare and less than 100 children in the UK get this type of cancer.
He is currently in and out of Birmingham children's hospital with his parents, where we have been told, they will spend the majority of the next year whilst Charlie gets all the medical treatment and care he needs.
He is currently on a clinical trial, and is responding well to treatment however, it is a long and aggressive treatment plan with some horrible side effects for him to deal with.
We are setting up fundraising for him to raise awareness of this horrible Cancer and to help the family in case he needs any treatment outside of the UK, because there is a high risk of it returning even after he responds to the treatment and there is no known cure here in the UK for it, if it returns.
We are a very positive family and we know Charlie will beat this but we are trying to do everything possible for him.
