As I turn 50 and start a new decade, instead of receiving birthday gifts, I would welcome donations that I can split between two charities that are significant to me personally:
Tearfund's Middle East Crisis campaign works on the ground with local Christians to support families who have been displaced by war and urgently need food, shelter and hope. I've supported Syrian refugees on the ground in Lebanon personally in the last 2 years, and want to help more displaced families in poverty and distress. I am inspired by Tearfund's mission to follow Jesus to end poverty and injustice globally.

Sannox Christian Centre on island of Arran in Scotland is a newer Charity developing a wonderful place of prayer, worship, healing and retreat - to bless the local community and the world, based on the celtic Christian traditions of prayer, hospitality and journey "Christ at the centre, but open to all". The site has a rich history of worship and prayer, and rebuilding the derelict buildings is a work in progress, but even now there is a powerful sense of God's goodness and presence there, with many visitors having random joyful encounters with God. I feel drawn to be a part of what God wants to do on Arran in the future.
