Mr friend's husband has worked for his entire career in the South African Police Force however he was recently charged and found guilty of allowing prisoners to escape. He is totally innocent - his colleague handled the prisoners and released them, however his station commander is a racist and targets the white officers. This colleague that was also charged at the same time had the case against him dropped if he acted as a witness to help prosecute my friends' husband.

The effect of this has been devastating on their family, particularly their young daughter (who is five) as they now have no income with which to pay their bills, rent or buy food. Although her husband has found some work with a security firm, this pays less than £300 per month which falls well short of the £1000 per month that they need to survive.

They have already sold many of their possessions and now all that money has been used, their electricity has been cut off. Their situation is now desperate and I want to help my friend and her family get back on their feet. They need approximately £3000 as support to make ends meet until October when there is an appeal hearing in court.

My friend's solicitor believes that the charges will be overturned given the evidence that they have now collated so their need is short-term to get them through until then.
