Donate to the Defibrillator
Local residents' groups in Cheltenham are looking to raise the £1200 required to renew the lease for the defibrillator outside The Exmouth Arms for another four years.
Please contribute to our JustGiving page and ensure this lifesaving community resource is retained for our area. It might save your life.
Why Donate?
Defibrillators improve cardiac arrest survival rates.
More than 3,600 people are resuscitated outside of hospital. For every minute that someone is in cardiac arrest without receiving CPR and having a defibrillator used on them, their chance of survival decreases by 10%.
That’s why it’s so important to have access to a defibrillator within minutes of a cardiac arrest.
Without this defibrillator, the nearest device is in Naunton Park, too far away to help anyone in the Bath Road.
Background
This defibrillator is a device that can be used by anyone to give an electric shock to help restart a patient’s heart when they are in cardiac arrest.
Originally funded by the Women’s Institute in 1997, along with the one in Leckhampton Village Hall, £1200 is now required to continue leasing the defibrillator from SWAST, who maintain the equipment providing replacements batteries, pads and facilitating training as required.
Automatic or semi-automatic defibrillators are easy and safe to use by anyone with little or no training. The device talks and displays what you need to do, with many devices also show pictures.
NARA, SPJARA and Cheltenham Connect encourage everyone to contribute and help keep this lifesaving device available in the Bath Road. You never know when you might need it.
