For the last 33 years Faversham has enjoyed the community Christmas spirit with the annual Switch-on of the Christmas lights – however financial support has dwindled in the last few years which has put the Faversham Christmas Lights in peril of this year being the last Switch on. Our volunteers who love brightening up the town during this festive period would like to see the town lit up for future years to come. A display costs approximately £9000 per year, all of which goes into the display (as I said we are all volunteers and give up our time for free!) – Which is a lot cheaper than Oxford Street!!
The good news is we are half way there; however we need the last £4000 to ensure 2017 Switch on can happen. Please give as much or as little as you can either through this Just giving page or through the collecting tins on most shops around the town.
With your donation:
£1 – Would buy approximately 30 cable ties to help fix features and keep cables neat and tidy.
(We use approximately 3000 each year – and can only be used once)
£5 – Would buy 1 metre of cable.
(We use approximately 6 miles of cable around the town and in Trees!)
£10 – Would buy 3 Led low energy bulbs.
(We use over 5000 bulbs and have been trying over the years to change conventional bulbs to the low energy ones – We’re trying to do our bit for the environment also!)
£15 – would buy a small Christmas tree
£20 – Would buy 1 days’ worth of fuel for forklift to ensure we could put the lights up!
£30 – Would buy 1 days’ worth of light – let’s make a sparkle!
£50 – Would buy 1 month of storage for our equipment
£210 – Would buy a weeks’ worth of light. – let us shine bright!
Through your kind donation this will help us keep our town shining for another year!
Thank you for supporting Faversham Community Christmas Lights.
We wish you all a happy and healthy festive period - Merry Christmas
