Story
Salam Alaykum (Peace be upon you)
My mum does a lot of work with an amazing muslim charity in Lagos, Nigeria called 'Muharram Sisters'. With the support of many generous people, they have provided sahur (morning) and iftar (evening) meals for the muslim inmates of Ikoyi and Kirikiri prisons in Lagos since 2007. They have, by the grace of Allah, been able to maintain the prison mosque, organise medical visits, build a skills-acquisition centre, amongst other things.
It is important for us to remember that not all muslims have the freedom to fast and enjoy the heightened sense of spirituality in this holy month - in this case, because meal times are restricted and the prison cannot afford to make special provisions for them. Ramadan is a great opportunity for the prisoners to strengthen their path to goodness. Also, looking forward to a nicer meal than usual (or none atall) will probably encourage them to cope better with prison life, display less aggression and develop self-discipline around prayer and recitation of the Qur'an.
Because I think this is a such a great cause, I am helping my mum and Muharam Sisters raise money so that some prisoners are able to enjoy the benefits of Ramadan like we do. We need all the help we can get so please kindly donate whatever you can. May Allah accept all our actions and intentions as an act of Ibadah.
This is our chance to show some support to our muslim brothers and sisters who are most beloved by Allah and are being tested by Him :)

7 years agoSalam alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu We, the Muharram sisters wish to convey our profound gratitude to you for your very generous selfless support towards the realisation and success of our programs during the last month of Ramadan. With Allah’s help through your contributions to our cause, we were able to feed over 900 inmates and staff daily throughout the holy month. Also, the traditional medical check ups for all inmates at the prison went without a hitch, with almost 1500 people attended to by a team of over 30 medical personnel.
