Story

I am proud to know Elizabeth as both a colleague and a friend. As a trauma nurse in London she was involved in pre-hospital care and had her heart set on taking her career further and becoming a trauma doctor. She was accepted to medical school and her journey looked set but life, as it so often does, had other plans. She developed a condition which affected many of her organs and tragically affected her spinal cord, meaning she would no longer be able to walk and would have to use a wheelchair. In spite of everything Elizabeth continued at medical school and qualified as a Doctor last summer. Alongside this she has been heavily involved in developing wheelchair sport locally and been a source of strength and encouragement to many who have found themselves in the same situation as her. Unfortunately the last year has brought with it too many bouts of ill health and along with the inclement weather Elizabeth has been unable to get out and about as much as she would, due to the restrictions of her current wheelchair. I have set up this crowdfunding in conjunction with a series of fundraising events, which will happen over the coming year, to raise funds for a modification for her current chair so that she will be able to get out and about a bit more - whatever the weather and whatever the terrain. It is my hope that people will help Elizabeth in the way that she has already helped so many.

A wonderful opportunity for a pre-loved chair has wheeled it's way into view and as such we have amended the total. Thanks for all your continued support and donations - we are getting close to making this happen!

Thank you so much to all who have donated already. I know that Elizabeth is overwhelmed with the response and your generosity. You will notice we have reduced the total on this page and this is to reflect cash donations we have received. The same will happen after fundraising events. I wanted to be transparent about this and will always post an update when I change the total. The target remains the same £4405 it is just coming from lots of different directions. Let's hope the donations keep coming! Best wishes, Heather
