Story
Fibromyalgia is a chronic, long term care condition of the central nervous system that affects at least 1 in 20 in the UK. Thus it is thought approx 300,000 at least suffer in Scotland alone.
Fibromyalgia affects emotional, physical, cognitive, social and occupational aspects of a sufferers daily life.
Fibromyalgia is classed a syndrome due to no one specific known cause and the multiple symptoms and overlapping conditions that come with it.
Symptoms within Fibromyalgia range In sufferers however some of the symptoms are fatigue, muscle pain, headaches, insomnia ,cognitive issues, bowel and bladder problem problems such as IBS , overactive bladder, digestive issues, eye and teeth problems mental health, skin issues, such as rashes and allergies to alloydina (heightened and painful response to pressure) and many more.
We are all sufferers of fibromyalgia and have found amazing support, information, advocacy,friendship and a place to talk and be open about living with fibromyalgia through FFU Scotland.
We are doing this 5K to raise awareness and funds to enable this service to continue and reach out to other sufferers
FFU Scotland are a social enterprise organisation in Scotland based in Ayrshire that offer support and advocacy online and in the community with expansion of support, training and community based resources launching next year.
Any funds we raise in this run will be used to help develop the organisation service delivery programmes in the community. All going back to help those with fibromyalgia in Scotland.
