    Story

As many of you will be aware Lizzie and I recently had the heartbreak of our beautiful first born baby boy being brought into the world sleeping, some 12 weeks before his due date.

After being told we'd lost Finlay Rupert we were taken to the Central Delivery Suite, Room 9, which is a delivery room towards the back of the suite, but still inbetween other delivery rooms. Room 9 is self contained with its own ensuite and double sofa bed so once in, we didnt need to leave if we didnt want to.

The room was pleasant enough (not quite the right phrase for this experience but I'm sure you'll understand what I mean!), but we feel it could do with some improving to assist future parents in the situation we found ourselves in.

First and foremost we would like to be able to provide a new kettle and sofa bed to the room as even the midwives said they "think its about time we raised funds for a new one" because the kettle was unbelivebly loud and the sofa bed was very much on its last legs.

Secondly, if we are able, I personally would like to see the ensuite and room itself decorated so its a little less clinical and a little more homely. We do appreciate the need for gas and air, a delivery bed and the machinery and bins for medical purposes however we feel that for a room which is used as a bereavement room sometimes the feeling of little home comforts are necessary to try and ease the pain.

And finally, the most challenging of all and possibly the most improbable and most costly, where possible we would really like to soundproof the room. One of the hardest parts of this whole experience was holding our sleeping child in our arms and hearing new born babies cry further down the corridor.

We would really like this to be Finlay's Legacy, to help other parents in this situation and to try and ease the burden and pain where we can. We would really appreciate your help in this, every little penny that can be spared will help us collectively acheive this goal.

Thank you in advance, from our whole family...

Dan, Lizzie and of course Finlay Rupert.
