I fell deeply in love and married a man. On the day of our wedding, as we arrived at the honeymoon hotel, the abuse began. I sat on the honeymoon bed in my wedding dress with tears streaming down my face. He had called me a whore, spat on me and gone to the bar......

From that moment I knew I was trapped and I was very, very afraid but, as he lived off me, in my home, I didn't know how to get rid of him. I thought if I loved him more he would stop being so aggressive. Of course, I was one of the millions worldwide who was completely wrong.

After only 11 months of marriage he punched me in the head, sending me flying across the room and my son called the police. He was arrested and convicted very shortly after, of assault and battery against myself. Then I got "the disclosure"... he had done this time and time again to other women. Pull them in fast then turn on them. Some stayed with him for years... but not me.

I have not seen him since and never wish to again. I have a restraining order and I now desperately want a divorce. I do not have a family that can help out and recently have been diagnosed with PTSD so have withdrawn from the world in all ways but dragging myself to work.

He also left me in financial tatters and that is why a friend suggested I try this.

I am capable of handling my own divorce, so am not asking for solicitors fees. I simply ask that if anyone could help towards the Court Fee (£550) so I can be truly free of this horrible monster, I would be so incredibly grateful and I know it would help my state of mind no end.

I know this is a personal cause but should any further funds be raised than needed , I will be donating them to RISE, the charity that supports survivors of domestic abuse.
