VISIT TO RUHANGA SCHOOL IN UGANDA

Myself and my friend Fiona are travelling to Uganda in June to volunteer at this school. It was first set up in 2007 and now has around 500 children attending.

The school currently has one classroom that only has walls and a roof but no windows, doors, plastered walls or concreted floors. That is their current priority for where money is needed.

One of our main aims is to show the girls / women how to be able to make reusable sanitary towels. At the moment the girls miss 1 week a month of school and reusable sanitary towels will ensure they can attend everyday.

Girls with a lack of education are usually married off before they are 16. At Ruhanga school, they are subsidised with the sponsor a child scheme where each child can be sponsored for £5 a month. This gives them porridge for breakfast which may be there only meal at school and a chance to attend school.

We are not just looking for monetary support. If anyone has children's clothing/shoes which maybe useful please get them to us so we can take out with us in June.

Please be assured all money raised on here will go towards getting essential items to bring out plus to the development of the school. The trip is funded completely by ourselves.
