    Story

Last summer I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to go to Rwanda as part of a Global Learning Partnership Programme through Aberdeenshire Council and the Wood Foundation. I met many wonderful children and people- new friends for life.
I worked with my school based Mentor, Damas at GS Shangi in the Nyamasheke District.
In school one of the things I helped with was demonstrating how to use resources supplied by UNICEF for the Nursery eg. instruments, play dough, paint, puzzles. I was also involved in a week's training in the capital city Kigali for all the School based Mentors.
Damas took me to the sector Nursery (an old slaughterhouse), where I saw the toilet situation and decided I wanted to help sort this out.
The situation is this, I have already managed to raise £1100 towards the £1800 target for three toilets so that the children, Nursery Teacher and visitors have privacy, are safe and dry and are not exposed when they use the makeshift toilet. The Care Giver of the Nursery, Mathilde was so inspirational as she had 80 children all involved in games and singing with no support!
Please help me to raise the final £700 so that the children at the Sector Nursery can have a better toilet experience.
    Thank you for your support.

      Update from the Page owner

A huge thank you to everyone for supporting my Shangi Sector Nursery Toilet Fund. I am delighted to announce that a total of £1940 has been raised so we've cracked the £1800 estimation for the build. There will be bank charges for trAnsferring the money from here to IEE's bank and then they will have charges to transfer the dollars to Rwandan Francs so I'm hoping that the excess will be enough to cover this. Any surplus money will be used for resources the benefit of the children at the Nursery. Thank you everyone.
