    Story

Dudley is a 23 month old newfoundland dog, who has dysplasia in both elbows and a heart issue. All conditions present from birth. All can be put right with surgery. The conditions are genetic and his breeder has not helped. The insurance was only sufficient to cover the diagnoses, and sadly the cost of the operations is prohibitive for his owner. And now of course, these conditions are pre-existing. He is currently on pain relief, but as his quality of life has become compromised and his owner has exhausted all avenues for funding, she has turned to the Southern Newfoundland Club for help. We applaud Dudley's owner for her perseverance and persistence in trying to get the right care for Dudley and to give him the quality of life he deserves. Her care and love for him cannot be questioned. As our funds are reserved for the dogs that come into our care, the club itself cannot pay for these operations, but we can put put ourselves fully behind the fundraising for it. A club member has already underwritten the cost of the initial treatment, which takes place this July, and we are holding various fundraising events, but we are now hoping that if everyone who takes the time to read this will give a small donation, we will have 'Fixed Dudley' for good and he will go on to have any amazing adulthood with his loving owner and become a testament to the goodwill and generosity of dog lovers, especially in the Newfoundland world.

Dudley has come through his first operation fine. He is a bit woozy still, but the op went well. When he has recovered from this one, he will have the same operation on the other elbow and hopefully will be pain free and be able to run about like the puppy he is. But, it will all depend on your further generosity. His owner is overwhelmed by you all 💖
