What is this FiSH (Food in School Holidays) Project?

One of the key challenges for low-income families with dependent children is the cost of feeding those children during the school holidays. Many children from low-income families are eligible for free school meals during term-time, however, during holiday periods this vital provision is not available. This can lead to families struggling to feed themselves because of their shortage of funds to buy the extra food needed during these times.

FiSH works to help with this during the main school holidays, through the allocation of food vouchers to children who qualify for free school meals. These vouchers can be exchanged for food and drink suitable for children in local stores.
