£1,050raised of £5,000 target by 41 supporters

Weʼve raised £1,050 to help the community of Arquata del Tronto, in the centre of Italy, who are still recovering from the aftermath of the summer 2016 earthquakes

    London, United Kingdom
Funded on Thursday, 14th September 2017

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Last summer the town of Arquata del Tronto was hit by 3 large earthquakes within 3 months. Most of the historic town was destroyed by this leaving the community distraught.
Almost a year on, the town is still in rubble with many of the inhabitants living out to the major towns in the area ( at least 40 minutes away).
Some of the temporary housing has been completed, allowing some families to move in, however many still travel daily even just to attend pets and animals.

A part from the material reconstructions, the village needs to recover the spirit of the community. The intention of this crowdfunding is to provide a small financial help to projects aimed to the people.
As only a handful of businesses are currently open, a series of professional training courses will be created to help those who lost their jobs get back to work.

Also, efforts are being made to recover and restore much of the artworks present in the castle, the churches and the council offices.

My sister and I at the bar where she works. This was the first business to reopen after the earthquake. Even though it's a small prefabricated building, it is incredibly important as it provides a place where the community can meet up and grab a coffee before traveling back to their homes in other towns.

I'm originally from the northwest of Italy, and now I'm living in London. My sister moved in Arquata del Tronto to live with her boyfriend. After the earthquake my sister's house is still standing, but is uninhabitable due to severe damage.
