Story
Our Just Giving target is now £8,375 to account for offline donations which we can't incorporate into the Just Giving total.
This ancient monument, dating from probably the late 16th Century and thought to have been an inspiration for the author, J.R.R. Tolkien, has suffered from neglect and has fallen into disrepair. It once marked the boundary between Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. A government reorganisation of boundaries in 1931, however, meant that the link with Worcestershire was lost and four became three. The stone is Grade Two listed and needs restoration to preserve it for future generations. The Four Shire Stone Restoration Committee of local people is committed to make this happen. The estimated cost of the required works is £20,000. We really need your help and all donations will be gratefully received. Thank-you.
