Story
It's not been an easy time for anybody involved in rescue. Walking with Alpacas is a small self funded rescue in Lincolnshire. We take on lots of unwanted alpacas from all over the UK travelling hundreds of miles and receiving little or no help with fuel or costs. We also have a large contingent of pygmy goats and various birds such as chickens, geese, ducks, emus and our recent arrivals 4 turkeys. Most of these are rescues as well.
Alpacas and llamas are costly to keep. We use our trained alpacas for walking with the public, but along with this comes the cost of essential neutering, shearing and dental work - alpacas are like rabbits. They have to have their teeth checked and often trimmed.
We fundraise throughout the year by taking the alpacas to shows or displays or holding open days and again rely on donations from the public.
Sadly this year due to inflation and cost of living we are struggling to keep our heads above water. We rely on the goodwill of our volunteers.
We cannot afford the fees to get the animals sheared before the hot weather comes. Please can you find it in your heart to donate anything towards this. If 750 people reading this donate £2 each (less than the price of a cup of tea/coffee) that will help to pay to ensure these gorgeous animals remain cool and most importantly healthy during what is forecast to be another hot summer.
As volunteers we do our best but we now need to ask for your help.
