    Story

Adam Mayer and Kurt Mason are proudly raising money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Peterborough City Hospital by taking part in the famous Two Ball Banger Rally. From August 17-21st 2017, the rally involves crossing 9 countries in just 4 days, all in a car than can not cost no more than £567!

Adam and Gemma's son Freddie Mayer was born at Peterborough City Hospital on 12th April 2016, 9 weeks early, weighing just 2 lb 7, and requiring requiring life saving treatment in week 2. During extremely challenging and emotional times, the level of care, support and expertise received by the specialist unit was a credit to all involved and helped to ease the pressure over the 9 weeks Freddie was in hospital. Freddie is now 15 months old, caught up in weight and full of joy and excitement for his adventures in life.

The car we have chosen for the event and to decorate for charity is a 2000 plate Mercedes CLK 320. We collected the car from Par in Cornwall, which shows the difficulty in finding a car for £567 that is likely to make the 1200 mile journey there (and back as importantly!). As team number 8 of 61 in the event, we have converted the car into the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard or as we have named it, "The Hopeful-Lee" with a team name of The General Hazzards. We have put a lot of work into it and as of 8/7/17 it is almost finished bar a few finishing touches (and an extremely good clean).

Starting from Saint Omer in France, we will travel through Belgium, Luxembourg, the Black Forest of Germany, the Austrian and Switzerland alps; the famous Stelio Pass and Lake Como in Italy, Monte Carlo and finishing in Nice hopefully in the same car and without a lot of mechanical inout required (to which we have very little).

We hope you will support the great cause we are doing this for and will provide updates during the event so please check back in.

Thanks in advance for your support,

    Adam Mayer and Kurt Mason

A huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far. Another days work today that's seen us recreate the original bumper (pond pipe in banger fashion), polish off the 17 years of cumulated dirt off the headlamps and treat her to a good clean. A few bits of finishing and sponsor stickers to go on and we're ready to go in 12 days time!

After another day of work, we are nearly finished with The Hopeful-Lee. Our thanks got to Matt from Icarus Ltd for providing us with workshop facilities, Dave from DC Signs for the vinyls and Steve from SS Motors for showing us the error of our ways. Just the new bumper to make and a huge cleaning effort to go
