We're a team of 15 teenagers from Milton Keynes, currently doing the National Citizen Service. NCS is a 4-week course funded by the government to enable young people to benefit from and serve their local communities. At the heart of this programme is a 'Social Action Project', planned and run by us.

As a team, we wished to support those suffering from learning disabilities. We feel the lack of education and support on such matters is not enough, and consequently, the focus of our project would be to raise awareness of this issue.

After planning our project, we decided to directly help those living with learning disabilities by aiming to improve their quality of life. We decided this would be most effective through helping refurbish a care home. As part of our project, we will be renovating 'The Fremantle Trust', a residential care home in Fishermead, Milton Keynes, for those living with learning disabilities.

The Fremantle Trust is a non-profit organisation providing care and support for the elderly and adults with learning disabilities. They have 58 locations across the country, in individual domestic homes that support almost 2000 people.

By the end of our project, we not only would have improved the lives of those who could considerably benefit from our support but also encouraged others to tackle issues faced in their communities. We feel passionate about us all taking the time to make a positive change within our lives to benefit another.

To aid our project we would welcome any donations, all of which would be used to buy resources and equipment for the refurbishment outlined above. Any additional funds after the completion of the project will be donated to 'The Fremantle Trust,' so that they can continue to improve lives in our communities.
