Story
Our 6 month old puppy Daisy is a crazy little lady. She is a cross between a pug and a toy poodle. We bought her for our son Trystan for his 7th birthday this year when she was just 8 weeks old. Trystan has hypermobile ehlers-danlos syndrome, sensory processing disorder and is on the autistic spectrum. Daisy has been fantastic for his social and emotional development. We are hoping to train Daisy to be an assistance dog for Trystan once she gets a bit older.
However, on 27th July Daisy unfortunately had a serious accident and suffered a major break in her front leg. She has broken both bones in her leg and we have had to take her to a specialist vets in Solihull for complicated surgery. She has needed a plate and 6 pins in her leg. Luckily Daisy was insured, but the costs have now exceeded her yearly cover amount and we are struggling to find the money to pay for the rest of the treatment she will require. Her yearly cover amount is £4000 and it has now gone just on the operation to put the plates and screws in her leg. Daisy will need a check up at our local vets in a week. Then a follow up x-ray in 5 weeks which will cost up to £600 plus the petrol money to take her back to the specialist vets in Solihull. We have already had to pay just over £400 as the first bill exceeded our insurance policy limit.
We would be so grateful for any money that anyone could afford to give us to help us look after our little lady. We never would have imagined that something this serious would have happened and we thought our pet insurance would cover us totally. We certainly weren't prepared for something this major to happen.
