Story
Hi everyone!
We are running One True Grit’s (very cold and muddy!!) 8k Obstacle Race to raise money for our friend Simon.
Simon is a young man who was involved in a motorbike crash 7 years ago whilst travelling with friends in Thailand. Simons accident caused severe brain damage, and whilst he has fought hard and shown great progress, he now has a number of physical and cognitive issues. Simon is currently unable to walk, has loss of good mobility in his hands, cognitive issues with memory and processing information, and has lost most of his hearing.
Before his accident, Simon was a music producer and an avid gym goer and this has made it particularly hard for him to adjust to the new physical and cognitive difficulties he faces. Simons parents and team of carers are working with Simon to rebuild his life and they hope to help him maximise his potential by involving specialists such as a personal disability trainer and a speech therapist, and potentially equipment such as vibrating technology which allows deaf people to enjoy music, and gym equipment. This additional support would help Simon on so many levels, however, there is no funding available for this and as such (with your kind help!) we are hoping to raise some money to contribute towards this.
Thank you!
Meg and Chlo xx
*Edit: 28/02/18* Wow - half way through our target already! Thank you sooo much to those who have donated. With the money raised so far, Simon could have 6 personal training sessions! Can't wait to see how much more we can raise, and hopefully we will even smash our target!! xx
*Edit: 06/03/18* Yay!! We hit our target and more! Thank you people, you are amazing! This really will make a HUGE impact! Let's keep going and see how much more we can raise!! xx

6 years agoFrom Simons Parents: "This mad adventure undertaken by Chloe & Meg demonstrated two things for us. First, they are bonkers. Second, as well as being bonkers they are two very kind hearted people along with all those who donated money to help. Si was so touched that people would give money towards helping someone they didn't know. As Si becomes stronger he would benefit from a new wheelchair (not be funded by Social Care) so the money raised will go towards this. Thanks so much to all who supported this adventure! Triathlon next surely?"
