Islay Dog Rescue is a small not for profit charity run by Lorraine and Richard Jardine based in Cumnock Ayrshire. They have rescued over 600 dogs many of whom were in the kill shelters in London. When dogs are picked up as strays in London they are immediately registered on a Put to Sleep list and if they are not claimed within 7 days the dogs are euthanised irrespective of their age or health. My dog Bess and her foster sister Phoebe were rescued by Lorraine and Richard from a Put to Sleep Shelter in London. Although we dont know the background we do know that Phoebe had been used as a bait dog as her face and body were coveted in scars from the abuse she had suffered during her short life. At the age of 18 months she had been put on the streets shortly after having a litter of puppies who were cruelly taken away from her by her abusers. Sadly Phoebe died shortly after being rescued but due to the love and care she received from Richard and Lorraine she passed away in the arms of her new family as a much loved pet. Islay is now under threat of closure as they need to raise 25k for new kennels before October. Without the help and support from Richard and Lorraine many healthy dogs will continue to be put to sleep if we cannot raise the funds for the new kennels. Bess and I are asking for your support to help raise the funds necessary to enable Lorraine and Richard to continue this essential work. Every penny you donate goes straight to the welfare and care of the dogs rescued by them and every pound you can spare will help save the life of a street dog like Phoebe. Bess and I send you heartfelt thanks for your contribution xxx
