I’ve decided to give myself a big challenge by running the Manchester Half Marathon, this will be my first time and the furthest I’ve ever ran, eclipsing the 10km i usually run. The race takes place Sunday 14th October 2018.

The reason for this is to raise money for a special little boy Isaac George Wood who was born with SMA type 1. SMA type 1 (spinal muscular atrophy) is a genetic muscular condition of which the muscles in the body deteriorate until baby Isaac would die. However he’s been accepted for a drug that is a ‘miracle’ and will help repair his missing gene and give him a fighting chance! There is no saying how well Isaac will respond to the treatment each child is different but my fund raising will help Kerry & Kieran buy what ever special equipment is needed for Isaac and also donate to the charity’s that treat SMA!

Kerry has also sent a message to please get tested if you are a carrier of SMA. 1 in 40 people are carriers and if your partner is a carrier you have 25% of having a child affected by SMA. Let’s raise as much as we can to help this amazing little boy have the best life possible, every little helps!
