Not sure what I've signed myself up for... as I struggle with 70mins in a normal game...but when asked to take part in this 24hr Hockey Marathon for the Alan Patterson Trust, I couldn't say no. A 24hr hockey challenge is nothing compared to the challenges Alan is going through in his life right now.
Last summer, following a trampoline incident, Alan suffered a serious spinal cord injury which has left him paralysed from the chest down. Since then, Alan spent weeks in Intensive Care and a spinal care unit. He is currently in Musgrave Hospital in Belfast and is working extremely hard on his rehabilitation & trying to get a care package agreed in order to get him home. Alan is just 27 yrs old and an inspiration to us all, so I was only too glad to accept this challenge in order to help raise funds for the long rehabilitation road thats still in front of Alan.
