I will be taking part in the Great Aberdeen Run on Sunday 27th August. I'll be running (or hobbling, waddling, walking/all) the half marathon. Training is in progress and I'm making an effort to eat better too!

I am running to raise funds for Sunrise Partnership, who are a charity that specialise in loss/bereavement counselling for children and young people up to the age of 18. This service is confidential and is free to those who need it.
I had actually come across Sunrise a while ago as the Bridge of Don Asda had nominated them as one of their local causes to support.

This charity is very special to me because on Saturday 23rd July 2016, my husband Fred died from a fall whilst hillwalking on the Aonach Eagach ridge. Having to tell your 3 children that their Daddy is dead and that they'll never see him again is the worst thing I have ever had to do. I never ever thought it would happen like this and certainly not at the ages of 4 and 7 years old.

I contacted Sunrise when my eldest daughter's behaviour began to concern me and I knew that I couldn't deal with this by myself. They have provided such a great support to my family and I don't know what I would have done otherwise.

I'll be running in memory of Fred, and for our girls.

I know that everyone's fundraising just now, but if you can spare something, it will be very much appreciated and will help Sunrise continue their fantastic work. Thank you xx

PS - Sunrise are currently in the process of registering with a fundraising site, but they don't know when it will be ready to use yet, so that's why I have created this page. All monies will be transferred by PayPal to Sunrise after I've completed the race.
