Story
As many of you close to me will know, I began to feel really unwell at the end of October. This resulted in me going home and back and forth to uni, making me miss around 4/5 weeks of lectures and important stuff in total! Unfortunately I have been messed around by doctors, walk ins and a&e so much that I have still not been able to recover over this Christmas break, which I thought I would be able to. It is much to my utter disappointment and sadness to inform everyone that it has come to the conclusion that I have Lyme disease. If this had been treated properly to begin with I would have most likely made a quicker and full recovery. Unfortunately what I now need to do from advice from other people going through the same thing and charities, is make appointments with a specialist, whom are rare to find, and unfortunately none of which are available through the NHS. Unfortunately as these are private and rare it makes them very expensive, even just for first consultations. The NHS alone and general GP's are not trained enough in this field and are sadly very naive to the condition and think it will get better with a couple of weeks of antibiotics on its own, which is wrong. I have spoken to many sufferers and people with the same problems on the Facebook page and they have all had such sad stories to share. I do not want this to get in the way of my studies and life, but clearly it already has done. I am now at the point where I can't let this get any worse as I don't want to end up in the same situation as the many people I've spoken to. I understand this is hard for anyone to get their head round as I didn't understand it myself to begin with, and people do not understand the severity of the condition if not treated properly and quickly. I ask politely, but not forcefully, if you are able to donate to my page, as I cannot afford to see specialists with my own funding alone. I would be eternally grateful of any support given to me at this point.

7 years agoJust want to say thanks so much for the support so far!!! Just to give you an idea of costs etc. The Hemel Hempstead clinic costs around £220 for first consultation, then they require you to have their own blood tests before treatment which costs between £1,500-2,000!! Then a follow up appointment of around £100 for suggestion of treatment etc.
