    Story

In June, I will be graduating from Durham University where I have studied Geography, Politics and Chinese – which I have thoroughly enjoyed. My studies have given me a broader understanding of the world, its problems and possible solutions that may be applied.

One passion that I developed prior to university was a desire to address the injustices some people face in the world. This desire was fed through two summer trips to Cambodia which gave me the chance to talk with people who had experienced exploitation and also by taking part in Model United Nations conferences during my high schooling. I am very privileged to once again have the opportunity to pursue this passion by joining International Justice Mission (IJM). IJM is a global organization that protects the poor from violence throughout the developing world. You can find their website at: https://www.ijm.org

In July, I will move to Manila to work in the IJM Philippines National Office as a Government and Community Relations Intern for 12 months. The team in the Philippines focuses on ending Cybersex Trafficking. This is a growing phenomenon and though it starts in the Philippines with children being made to perform sexual acts in front of a webcam, it is done to fulfill the desires of predators and pedophiles globally. Watch Cassie's story for a more in depth explanation:

IJM partners with Filippino officials and international law enforcement agencies to identify and rescue children who are being sexually exploited. IJM then collaborates with government prosecutors to ensure those facilitating the abuse are prosecuted. IJM further seek to restore survivors and work to strengthen justice systems. I will be working full time with IJM's advocacy team in Manila to gain support for these cases and raising awareness.

I have to fundraise an estimated £12,000-£15,000 for living costs. I would be very grateful for any support.

    Thank you and Salamat!
