I would like to firstly state that I have set this page up for our own family and friends connected to my Auntie Michelle.

As you all know, my Auntie Michelle, is currently very ill in hospital with secondary cancer. To us, she is our everything. Our lovely mum, daughter, sister, auntie and friend to so many.

This evil disease has unfortunately taken over our lives for the second time within two years! It has taken over her body at a rapid rate and is very aggressive and working very fast. It has taken over her breast, lung, liver and spine.

Some would say that her oncologist is raving bonkers trying her with any treatment (due to her current health) but he is trying everything he can to save her and has started her on some chemotherapy yesterday morning. The cancer is so aggressive that they do not know if the chemo is strong enough to overcome it, put a hold on it and prolong her life.

During this time, we are by her bedside 24 hours a day, taking it in turns overnight so she isn’t left alone without any of us holding her hand. Anyone that knows our family knows that we are very close, she is our world. Her infectious giggle lights up any room. She comes to stay at my house frequently at weekends to spend time with us and my children as she loves being around the hustle and bustle of the children. She is a lover of dancing, travelling, having a good time, anything positive and she has got so much to live for. She is not ready to leave us and we do not want to lose her. I can honestly say our family unit will change forever if she is taken from us.

Michelle’s daughter Tanisha has left her job and her home in Sheffield to come home, her son Aid has taken time off work to be by her side along with grandad and my mum. We are all going between travelling to Tunbridge Wells and using Michelle’s rented home in Tunbridge Wells as a base to sleep. Before we found out Michelle’s cancer had returned nearly two weeks ago, she was going to be leaving her home in Tunbridge Wells at the end of June and returning back to be nearer to us all in Medway. We have fortunately been able to extend her lease on her flat (which is close to her hospital) until the end of July and we’ll look at other options the nearer we get to that date. At the moment, we are taking one day at a time.

We are receiving so many positive messages and calls by ours and Michelle’s loved ones offering any help if needed and we would all like to thank you for that. I’ve never had to do anything like this before but I am now going to ask for help.

During this nightmare I’m trying to ‘fix’ something for my family trying to ‘mend’ something that is out of my control. Her close family will very soon need some help in financial support. Whether that be for compensating for time off work to be by her side, travelling to and from the hospital, paying her utility bills whilst her flat is being used as a base. Just taking away any unnecessary worries that her close family will soon start thinking about the longer this nightmare goes on.

Anything that I can raise would help. I would also like to say that in the positive outcome this chemo works for my auntie then any excess funding would be used to make Michelle comfortable, happy and her days more sparkly. In the event that any excess is unused, it will then be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
