Story

I came across this poor dog in a Thai street near my apartment about a month ago and saw she had a small growth hanging out her stomach. I was considering getting her help, but shamefully I forgot about her until I saw her recently, with the growth bigger, flies and ticks feasting on her, and she had since lost an eye. Abandoned street dogs are everywhere here, but this was one I felt needed urgent care and attention and was in too pitiful a state to be left to an extended life of loneliness and misery.

I took her to the vet on Sat 24 November and she has since

been receiving medication, treatment and good food since. I've been feeding her cooked chicken and beef and even reading to her -- but she looks very depressed (which I don't think is because of my choice of literature!)

The growth is thought be a tumour, which can be cut out, but her blood tests show she is suffering from low red blood cell and platelet counts, and this will need to be remedied before she can undergo operation.

She will need to spend a week or two in hospital. I put a deposit down of 10,000baht ($300) half of which has been spent already, but she will probably need a lot more before she is better.

I thought I would start with a conservative estimate for the cost of her treatment which I can raise if or when she needs surgery.

When she's better I will try to find her a loving home to go to, unless my two cats accept her ;)
