Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Hello, I’m Georgina. Unfortunately I discovered too late what I wanted my career to be and now university fees are a lot higher than they were when I finished college. I always knew I wanted to work with children, I went straight into work from college. I began working at Legoland because I knew I wanted to do something child orientated but it wasn't enough, from there I became a dinner lady in a primary school (where I still work today) whilst volunteering in classes in the afternoons.
It was then that I realised where I needed to be and I applied for the role of Special Educational Needs LSA, I enjoyed this role for three years before trying my hand at teaching (which everyone had been telling me was my calling but I didn't believe them until I actually began the job). Now I am working as a HLTA I know I want to be a teacher, the kind of teacher who takes all children needs into account and goes above and beyond because I love what I do and would want to do anything else.
Why I need your help
My current employer sadly will not help me fund my course (Primary Education Foundation Degree, which will be my route into become a qualified teacher) and I’ve used up my savings for the first year and as I need to attend college once a week I am also losing quite a large chunk of my salary which will make it difficult for me to save for my fees for the second year. I am doing this because I know what I should be doing with my life and I would hate to have to put that on hold because of insane university fees which will only increase the longer I wait. The cost of the second year is £3,500 plus I will need to buy course materials such as textbooks which could be up to £200 more. I need your help and would be hugely grateful for even the smallest amount you could spare. I love what I do (I wouldn't have gone to work dressed as an Ancient Greek if I didn't) and I would hate if one day I couldn't teach because I can't afford to work on an unqualified salary.
