£810raised of £5,000 target by 22 supporters

Weʼve raised £810 to help local charity Georgina's Gang. We will be embarking on an 8 day climb up Kilimanjaro and need your support to get there!

    Guernsey, United Kingdom
Funded on Friday, 29th September 2017

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Georgina’s Gang was set up by local nurse Sarah Mead to assist Ian Pearce and his family care for their daughter at home, who had been diagnosed with the devastating terminal condition Niemann Pick type C.

It was the express condition of Ian Pearce and his family that the charity would continue to help others after Georgina in similar circumstances after her passing last year. Georgina’s Gang have continued to assist young people in need of specialist equipment and emotional support in Guernsey, as well as those with Neimann Pick and their families beyond our shores.

Teenager Sam has been diagnosed with Beckers Muscular Dystrophy (BMD). This is also degenerative and life limiting. Sam will have to cope with losing his motor skills and will become reliant on a wheelchair. Sam's home will require an extension to make a downstairs bedroom and wet room as he will no longer be able to access the stairs. Sam will also need a lot of equipment as things change for him. Our aim is to provide whatever necessary to keep Sam feeling independent and to ensure Sam can stay in his home.

A second project is to help raise funds towards a motorised wheelchair for Mel, a locally born lady who contracted pneumonia meningitis at 9 months old, which has left her with Cerebral Palsy. Mel puts a lot of effort into the community and it would be wonderful to help give something back to allow her to get out and about around the lanes independently.

We are going to be embarking on an 8 day Kilimanjaro challenge on 18th October 2017, which is self-funded - trekking/climbing 45 miles over 7 days battling elements of extreme heat and sub zero cold, altitude acclimatization and the fatigue that goes with it.

We are hoping you can help us raise money for this great cause that is helping individuals and families both locally and in the UK "Treasure Every Moment".

    Best Wishes
    Ian and Steve
