My cousin Katherine, an expat living in the Middle East recently suffered a devastating stroke followed nine days later by a massive brain hemorrhage. She is in a perilous situation as she has no health insurance to cover the lifesaving neurosurgery she currently requires and the intensive rehabilitation she will need to achieve any quality of life for her and her family in the future. Since entering a coma on Wednesday September 20th, Katherine has showed encouraging signs of improvement but her condition remains critical and she urgently needs to be medically evacuated to the UK.

On October 29th, her brother-in-law Alan will be running the Dublin marathon in aid of Katherine and is looking to raise enough money to go some way to covering the huge costs involved in getting Katherine home by medical air evacuation. It’s a tall ask but we want to give Katherine the best shot at making a recovery that will allow her to live a normal life, support her 11-year-old son and hopefully allow them rebuild their life in the UK.

The money raised will go towards the costs of the medical evacuation and be managed on behalf of the family.

However small the contribution, it will make a big impact to ensuring Katherine secures the care and treatment she so desperately needs.
