Get the Kids to Garda – My Sober Summer Challenge

This summer, in an outstanding feat - ALL three of our children have qualified to represent Great Britain at the Cadet Class Sailing World Championships in Lake Garda.

Sam and Harry in the GBR team, and Joe in the fun bus that is the promo fleet - It’s an incredible achievement and we are unbelievably proud of them all.

This trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity for them — racing against the best young sailors in the world, learning resilience, teamwork, independence, and representing their country on an international stage.

But getting three sailors, their team mates, their kit - not to mention the boats, all over to Italy is … not cheap.

Your support — big AND small — will make a huge difference to the coaching and on water support that we can offer them. So I’m doing something extreme to ask for sponsorship!

I am going completely alcohol free for the duration of our fundraising campaign.

Yes. It is madness. No wine. No gin. No “just a small glass”. Nothing.

The very strict rules:

👉 I stay sober until we raise £6,000.

👉 When we hit £6,000, I’m allowed a large glass of wine again.

👉 Every pound gets the kids closer to success in Garda.

The children have even launched their own side hustle: “Get Mum GaGa” because apparently I’m “unbearable” without a glass in hand. (They’re not wrong.)

Thank you for helping us get to Garda, for cheering the kids on, and for supporting me through what may be the longest, hardest summer of my life.

Let’s get the kids to Garda… and get me back on the drink again.
