Story
Friday 4th august 2017 at 8:10am a little miracle happened, Matthew Robert Young was born at 24 weeks and 2 days weighing 600 grams. Throughout the pregnancy mum had a terrible time, a pregnancy should be full of joy and happiness, Becci's however was full of pain and sadness. Mums body was not coping well with being pregnant and wanted to get baby out asap. Mum went on as best she could caring for her other two children and dealing with a tragic sudden loss of her uncle due to suicide which hit Becci hard. Despite having all the odds against Matthew and being told numerous times he may never survive or even take a breath he did. He came out and took all by surprise, he moved his tiny little feet and we knew instantly he was a fighter. From day 1 Matthew named after his uncle was a fighter for his mummy, but not long after being born things took a turn for Matthew. He became increasingly sick and the doctors couldn't tell us from day to day whether he would survive. Matthew was diagnosed with metabolic bone disease which led to all Matthews big bones being broken which caused him a lot of pain. He was later diagnosed with chronic lung disease which means he was on a ventilator from birth and was unable to come of as each time the amazing nurses of the women's hospital tried he unfortunately needed to be resuscitated. About 11 weeks in we were told to prepare for the worst.. as Becci has two other children this was extremely heartbreaking however miracle Matthew surprised us again he began on bigger feeds which was great news as he was still only 2lb odd. It was like a rollercoaster for us all and Becci was living on nerves each minute. Matthews lung then collapsed and as he had chronic lung disease we knew this was not good news for Matthew but still he fought so hard with mummy. The nurses and consultants had to try Matthew without a ventilator and move him on to a c pap as Matthew was now almost 16 weeks old. Unfortunately Matthew could not cope and was put back on ventilation within a day. The consultants made mummy aware that there was nothing left for Matthew only to grow but it was a race against time... and we did not have enough time left as his body started to break down and it was a matter of hours he would pass away.
At 2:51am Friday 17th November 2017 Matthew was taken by the angels as he was just too precious for this world.
We have set up a funding page for Becci who is a single mother and her two beautiful amazing children who have lost a little brother to get them away for a week, for 16 weeks they have battled through so much. Every day with our baby Matthew as well as losing their uncle tragically to suicide and dealing with there nanny having terminal cancer. They need a little break as they have not spent time time with their mummy.
