    Story

As most of you know, Laura unfortunately, passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly, to a cardiac arrest after swimming in April at the young age Of 29. We never knew what would happen on this day 16th April but our lives have changed forever.

Laura had spent 8 years in the army, as a medic. Something she had set her heart on doing. It took patience hard work and dedication to work her way up to Corporal. Her final posting was to be based in Preston. She led a full life, she was happy, kind, selfless, always looking out for others, she loved her family and was looking forward to planning her wedding to her fiance Sophie in 2023 and many more plans, too many to mention. It had been a normal day for Laura, she had had her morning coffee, taking her precious french bull dog ’Hendrick’ out for his walk, and she had felt tired, but after we had endured lockdown for long enough, she wanted to get to the swimming pool, as planned and do her training programme she had set herself! She booked an hour of swimming and off she went. Unfortunately, she was never to return. Life is not to be taken for granted. We, as a family have realised this even more. BUT after finding that Laura had a condition called ARVC it is only usually detected on a post mortem. Hard as this sounds, its fact. There are signs and warnings to look out for, but dizziness and palpatations under exertion are the main factors! If you remember the footballer ‘Ericcson’ who had the cardiac arrest on the pitch who died in front of thousands of fans on the pitch and millions of people watching on the tv , he was fortunate enough to have had immediate treatment of CPR and a defibrillator to hand and after one shock he was revived. Unfortunately, Laura did not have this immediately and sadly she wasn’t revived. The reason i would like to help raise money towards a defibrillator is to try and help save someone‘s life and to save the grief and loss our family and Laura’s partner and friends have suffered due to Laura‘s cardiac arrest. We need defibrillators available everywhere for the public to be able to use in streets, parks, shopping areas, pubs etc there isn’t enough funding available. And if it can save someone’s life then we’ve done our bit to help. Laura helped so many people over the years she was so selfless. On 29th September it is World Heart Day. Dollys kiosk at Fleetwood boating lake have already raised enough money to provide 4 defibrillators so far and we need more defibrillators, so please please please help us to raise money for more ❤️❤️ as this could help one of your loved ones be saved . Thank you ❤️
