As you will be aware, I am a coach for Glossop North End Juniors football club, with Alfie and his Under 8's team.  The  Club  is  the  largest  football  club  in  the  area  with  over  425  registered  players,  38  teams  and  I'm  one  of  75  fully  qualified  coaches.   We  are  currently  Derbyshire  County  FA's  Community  Club  of  the  Year.

The Club has ambitious plans for a new football centre at Cemetery Road, Glossop, which will provide a new clubhouse and three new pitches.  The  clubhouse  will  comprise  new  changing  rooms  and  a  new  hub  for  the  Club  and  wider  community  to  use.   Plans  have  been  drawn  up  and  a  new  lease  for  the  pitches  is  to  be  announced  imminently.  The  Football  Foundation  are  in  discussions  with  the  Club  to  provide  grant funding. 

The  total  cost  of  the  scheme  will  be  c£600,000  and  of  this,  the  Club  has  been  set  a  target  of  £75,000  to  raise.   To  get  the  (foot)ball  rolling ,  I  have  agreed  to  run  the  Manchester  Survival  of  the  Fittest  10k on 28th October 2017,  and  am  looking  to  raise  money  for  the  Club's  clubhouse  fund. 

The  new  football  centre  will  allow  more  young  people  of  Glossopdale  to  learn  and  enjoy  playing  football  and  will  provide  a  venue  for  the  wider  community  to  use.

I'm  excited  to  be  part  of  this  fundraising  effort  for  GNE ,  which  will  provide  a  footballing  legacy  for  Alfie,  his  mates  and  hundreds  of  other  children  and  young  adults,  for  many  years  to  come.
