Over the weekend of July 1 and July 2 my friend Chris and I are going to take part in the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon.

This will involve running around 40km over two days through the Lake District.

I am hoping to raise £200 for Jo's Appeal in the process.

Jo Davies was a former colleague of mine at the North West Evening Mail newspaper, in Barrow, who died of cancer in 2015.

Jo was a lovely person and a bright and happy presence for all who knew her. Her husband Matt has done a cracking job of setting up and running Jo's Appeal, raising money to help fund Furness General Hospital oncology unit, St Mary’s Hospice and The Eve Appeal.

I hope my efforts can raise at least a little bit of money to help a brilliant cause.
